Can you believe it’s September? I didn’t want this summer to end. It was a hot rainy one here but between all the rain and humid Summer days we packed each day full of cuddles and laughter. You see, this year, my dear husband wasn’t working. He took the entire summer off work! I know, unheard of, huh? But we did it and it was worth it! Each day was filled with all five of us and it was perfect. We had plenty of time for napping and cuddling while watching movies. We went to the beach on a moments notice, even though it was a cloudy day. We gave caution to the wind and went anyway. Those weather men are wrong more often than not anyway! We adopted baby ducks and named them and fed them bread every afternoon before the rains started. We had cookouts every weekend. Heck, sometimes even on a Wednesday because, there were no days of the week in Summertime at our house this year! We perfected the art of wings and sauce and mini sliders. We ate ice cold watermelon and let the sweet juice run down our arms. We ate tons of fruits and vegetables from Farmer’s Markets. We made strawberry shortcakes and fruit cobblers and grilled any vegetable that we could get our hands on! We drove a million miles to basketball games for Sydney. This picture cracks me up! This is how we all felt after an 8 day tournament with games twice a day. Notice Sydney is all smiles. She had a great time! And at night we sat out back on the lanai and laughed with friends and family and watched beautiful sunsets. We invented signature cocktails and watched baseball games and jumped in the pool at midnight to cool off.
This Summer was one we will always remember as being one of the best. It was hard to say good-bye when school started. But seasons change and now we are entering a new chapter. One with Sydney’s last year in middle school and Sage starting first grade. One where my baby is now in pre-k. One with schedules and responsibilities. Yes, my friends, time is moving forward but for just a little bit this summer it stood still for us to just be present and enjoy our family. It was priceless!
I hope you all had a great Summer. I have some great things planned for Fall and can’t wait to share them. I have been thinking of new ideas for the house and new rooms to furnish and decorate! Thanks for stopping by and seeing how we spent our Summer!
