They have started building our house. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! It’s only about 4 miles from where we have been renting for the past five years. We love the area and when we heard last year that they were building the last phase in our subdivision we jumped at putting our name on the waiting list and started planning.
It has room for the kids to play, a view for us and lots of room to grow into. I can’t wait to decorate it! Living in a rental has made me miss it so much. I can’t tell you how tired I am of beige walls!
I have to admit though, I have become somewhat of a stalker. I drive by in the morning to see if they are working on it. Then in the afternoon to see what they did. The workers are starting to give me the evil eye. I just smile and wave though. I can’t help it!
Here is Chad standing where the pool will be. Daydreaming of lounging on hot summer days and watching football in the Fall. It will have a covered lanai (which is what they call a back porch around here). Cracks me up! But it does sound more tropical doesn’t it?
The interior we picked out months ago. Here is a little peek at what we picked out.
And here are the kitchen cabinets. We went with white shaker style. We also chose porcelain tile that looks like wood. We at first did want wood until two things: First, they are not like the wood up North. These are thin and are glued just like laminate is done because of the slabs here in florida. So for a very thin piece of wood it would be a HUGE amount of money. It would cost almost as much as the pool did to get it. And two, we have three children we would be spilling drinks and coming in from the pool with wet feet and I would be a nervous wreck about it. We had seen these tiles on houses in magazines before and thought they would be a great alternative. And I loved them when I saw they in person. SOLD!
Try to ignore the shag carpet these are laying on. That was the only place I could find to show them in the showroom that worked.
Here is a rendition of the finished pool and back. I knew I wanted a large shelf for the little ones to play on and also didn’t want a round irregular shape as I am a fan of symmetrical myself. We will be putting a cage over our pool. We love to sit outside in the evenings and eat dinner and have a drink when the kids go down and bugs and wine do not go well together. Plus, as they say down here, If you have water nearby, don’t be surprised when you see a gator. Cage please!
So now you are up to speed with where we are with the house. Sorry this turned into a book. Thanks for sticking with me!
I will say that this morning when I drove by they were starting the framing for the interior walls and hopefully by Saturday the second story! I will keep you posted!
